Dear Campus Community,
We are writing to provide you with a brief update regarding the issue of Instructionally Related Activities (IRA).
Following the discussions and decisions at the April 23 Academic Senate meeting, campus partners from Academic Affairs, the Academic Senate Executive Committee and Associated Students Inc. (ASI) have convened a task force to move this work forward immediately.
The task force's charge is to review IRA processes and procedures, consider and recommend options to mitigate impacts on programs, discuss sustainability and the role of IRA funding for long-term program support, and make recommendations to President Rochon and the Student Fee Advisory Committee.
Task force members include:
- Keoni Guerrero, Student Representative, College of Engineering and Computer Science
- Dr. Jidong Huang, Chair, CSUF Planning Resource Budget Committee, College of Engineering and Computer Science
- Dr. Kristi Kanel, Member, Academic Senate Executive Committee; College of Health and Human Development
- Joshua Lopez, Student Representative, College of the Arts
- Cesar Mendoza, Student Representative, College of Business and Economics
- Dr. Zia Salim, Member, Instructionally Related Activities Committee; College of Humanities and Social Sciences
- Deniz Suzer, Student Representative, College of Health and Human Development
- Dr. Sean Walker, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (Task Force Convener)
We recognize the concerns that many of you have raised and we understand how difficult this moment is. The situation further underscores the importance of continued collaboration to ensure our resources are aligned with IRA policies.
We will provide updates as this effort progresses. For additional information, including frequently asked questions (FAQ), you may visit the IRA webpage. You may also submit your feedback to community@fullerton.edu.
